The Thirteen Fires is based on an unconventional theme; we are primarily a yellow-based alliance (but speak with a chief if you'd like to remain where you are) and act as though our sphere is the North American frontier, we are a confederacy of allied nations, and the outside world is the Old World (or, rather the old way of doing things) that competes with us.

So, that's it; the thirteen fires used to be the nickname that merchants, missionaries, natives, soldiers and colonists used to call the original thirteen states and Upper and Lower Canada.
